Dr. Maurice has a B.A. in Sociology from Ball State University. His M.A. and Ph.D. are in Teaching English as a Second Language from Florida State University. Other studies include business, university continuing education, and film. His experience includes 4 years in Japan, teaching business people and managing programs, 4.5 years in Thailand, training teachers, coordinating a graduate program and teaching business people, and about 20 years in the U.S., teaching ESL and managing programs.
As director, his responsibility is overall leadership of the program, including strategic planning, financial management, recruiting, program development, teacher supervision, and so on. Distributing cookies to students from time to time and interacting with students is his joy.
His special interests in teaching are in the areas of listening comprehension, especially using videos, and speaking. As a director, his interest and goal is in making continuous improvements in the program so that our students get the best educational experiences available anywhere. Professionally, he has written two video-based textbooks and has been fairly active in giving presentations at different professional conferences in the U.S. and overseas.
